Kenya Police Football secured a 4-1 win over Scarlets FC on Sunday at Kasarani Annex football ground to earn a direct ticket into the Round of 16 matches of the competition.
Police FC’s skipper Duke Abuya gave them an early lead in the 12th minute of the game before Francis Kahata made it 2-0 five minutes later. Scarlet nearly came back to the game in the 48th minute after Silicho Soita scored on his own net.
The goal motivated Scarlet who looked forward to leveling the scoreboard however their effort didn’t bear fruits as a defensive error gave Police the third goal in the 68th minute. Elvis Rupia solidified their victory in the 74th minute via a penalty kick after Alvin Mangeni was fouled inside the area by James Situma.
Elsewhere, Sofapaka beat Karatina Homeboyz 3-0 in their Mozzart Bet Cup round of 32 fixture played at Karatina Stadium to secure a spot in the round of 16.
Kakamega Homeboyz drew 0-0 with slipped through Nakuru-based side Shalimar FC. The Premier League side scraped through 4-3 on penalties.
Kariobangi Sharks bagged the largest win of the day dispatching Marula FC 6-0 at the Longonot Horticulture grounds.
FKF Divisione One side Equity FC edged National Super League side Mara Sugar 2-1 to book their spot in the round of 16.
